AI Literacy Is Not Automation Literacy
AI literacy is working well with an AI. Automation literacy is turning work you understand into a repeatable system.
AI literacy covers context, prompting, uncertainty, privacy and checking the answer. Automation literacy covers triggers, inputs, rules, exceptions, permissions, tests and ownership.
An automation may use AI or not. AI can also help you build one, even when the finished automation does not use AI.
People who ask "do I need to learn to code?" usually have the first skill and are missing the second. The answer is maybe a little, depending on how far you want to go, and the skill to learn first is the second one.
When to use When someone asks whether they need to learn to code, whether they need to hire a programmer, or whether their question is an AI question or an automation question.
